The mechanics have spoken: SaMASZ #1 mower!

As a team we have set an ambitious goal to achieve NZ market leadership in hay mower sales by 2027. Poised to make it happen is our exclusive partnership with SaMASZ. With 40 successful years in business, SaMASZ have a reputation for researching and refining their hay mowers to ensure cleaner swaths, greater energy efficiencies and reduced labour costs.

A good judge of farm machinery quality is our workshop mechanics, Scott Teal and Jeff Cole. Having visited and trained at the SaMASZ headquarters in Poland, and worked on the mowers for several years now, they have nothing but respect for the brand and its enormous 4,000sqm factory.

The laser and plasma cutting machines are state-of-the-art when it comes to automation, which highlights their commitment to precision. Steel sheets arrive and go straight in for cutting, there is very little downtime or wastage. Robotic welders do a fair chunk of the easier work, with plenty of manual welders completing the difficult pieces. There are dozens of manual two-aside welding bays, where every worker has their own welder, workbench, air supply and extraction. Decades of talent and experience reside in the SaMASZ work bays! Quick-fire with Jeff and Scott about SaMASZ hay mowers:

  1. What makes SaMASZ mowers easier to service compared to other brands?

“The straightforward design compared to other brands is good. For example, the hydropneumatics mowers have less moving parts, no springs, a cleaner field of vision, less cluttered overall, so easier to access and service in general. The PerfectCUT cutterbars modular design ensures that any damaged components can be replaced quickly and very affordably.”

  1. Are there design features that simplify maintenance or repairs?

“Yes, SaMASZ mowers use high-quality components from brands like Walterschied and Bondioli, which simplify maintenance. For example, the grease nipple points on Bondioli driveshafts are easy to access, making lubrication quick and hassle-free.”

  1. What do customers say about reliability and durability?

“Operators consistently praise SaMASZ mowers for their durability, especially the strong cutterbar. Farmers have hit posts and troughs with minimal issues.

KJR Contracting, experienced with SaMASZ mowers, just completed their second season with their fleet still in impeccable condition—the frame and paintwork are holding up well. The team also appreciate how they can mow and go straight to baling, with no rake needed.

Farmers also respect the comprehensive parts and warranty promise. The two-year manufacturer’s warranty provides operators with confidence of the mower’s ability to perform at a high-level for a long time. Should a breakdown happen, we carry all the essential parts at very competitive prices.”

  1. Have you noticed improvements in newer models that make your job easier?

“Each new model includes thoughtful improvements, such as better-placed drain bungs for easier maintenance. The factory is also great to work with—always open to feedback and innovation.”

  1. What parts or systems do you find particularly well-built or long-lasting?

“Built with heavy-duty steel and excellent welding, SaMASZ mowers are impressively robust. The cutterbars are significantly stronger than those on many other mowers we see coming through the workshop to be traded in.”

  1. If you could tell a farmer one reason to choose a SaMASZ mower, what would it be?

“For its strength and price – you’re getting a whole lot of mower for your dollar.”

With advanced engineering, farmer-driven innovations, and top-tier serviceability, SaMASZ mowers are proving to be an unbeatable choice for NZ farmers and contractors. Contact the team if you would like to find out more.
